Student Life in Manchester

Student

Being a student in Manchester can be incredibly fun, but at the same time very beneficial towards developing a student academically, as well as helping them to learn important life skills that will be very helpful for them, throughout the rest of their lives.

There are two main universities in Manchester; the University of Manchester, a very academic university, and Manchester Metropolitan University, one of the most popular and busiest Universities in Europe. The University of Salford is located very close just outside of Manchester as well. Either way, being a student at any of these places means that you will most probably be living in the city; or at least very close, which is definitely a load of fun!

As a student there is so much to do. So many bars, clubs and pubs put on student nights several times a week meaning there is literally something to do every single night if you have got the time, money and energy! We all know students have usually got a limited amount of money to spend each week, but with so many student offers going on in both day time and night, a student’s money will go a lot further than it would usually. Manchester is the biggest student city in Europe, meaning there are thousands and thousands of potential new friends as there are always new people to meet!

The universities in Manchester offer loads and loads of clubs and social groups through the universities students union usually. This means if you have a hobby that you really enjoy, there will be a club or social group that meet on a regular basis who enjoy the same thing as you. For example if you enjoy playing football, then through the students union, usually through ‘fresher’s fair’ (a fair put on during the first week of university, you will have the chance to sign up for the club or team.

Living in a city like Manchester means that you always have access to nearly everything. There are major shops and shopping centres, such as the Arndale, and closely located Trafford centre; meaning you will never be short for clothes or items you need whilst living in or near Manchester. There are thousands of places to eat and drink, at both day and night and there is extremely handy and practical transport links through main roads, train stations, coach stations and Manchester airport. The city has everything a student could ever need and is a brilliant place for someone to go to University or College!
