LED strip lightsLED strip lights are one of the most popular LED products on the market right now. It is easy to understand why they will be a major part of the future of lighting when you consider that they are highly energy efficient, cost effective, extremely versatile, beautiful, they have a much longer life than other light bulbs and are not a fire hazard due to overheating.

LED strip lights are revolutionising the way we use lighting. They are a far cry from fluorescents and incandescent bulbs. LEDs mean that lighting can become a science and an art form as well as providing illumination easily. Research into LED uses in the farming industry has shown they are highly effective for growing vegetables and flowers. Not only this but the colours of LEDs used can actually affect the colour and even the taste of our produce. This could deeply affect the way we choose to grow our food.

LED strip lights are effective lighting solutions in the home and in the office setting. They provide a range of options from simple, clear lighting to subtle atmosphere changes to highlighting specific areas to artistic design. An entire wall can be dedicated to LEDs as they are so easy to install. They do not require mounting like other lights just adhesive. They do not have fixtures only the light is visible and so many have taken to transforming them into works of art and lighting their homes simultaneously. Even if you are not an artist their benefits are easy to see. Since there are no bulky fixtures you can have them in tiny spaces such as under your work desk and the way light works in a room is completely altered.

Huge projects are taking place uses LED technology in a daring and ambitious manner. Outside Seoul in South Korea there may soon be skyscrapers with the power of invisibility thanks to LEDS and cameras. 500 rows of LEDS on the building’s exterior surface in coordination with cameras capturing images at various points can create the illusion of the sky scraper blending with the sky around it.

With all these magnificent projects and discoveries it is no wonder LEDs are the future but what about today? Using LED strip lights in your home is very easy but some people do worry about calculating voltage.  There is a simple way to calculate the power needed to you can install them worry free. You need to multiply the length of the LED strip by the number of LED lights per metre and then multiply the result by the power of the LEDS (0.08w to 0.24w per LED is normal) and then divide by 12. This will give you the required amperage of your power supply.
